Cool, calm, collected and superb party rockers are the best description for the guests of Yemisi Doherty who trooped out to the Yaba LCDA hall on Sunday, May 16, 2021 to celebrate the lives of late Surveyor F.F. and Mrs M.I Doherty who lived a good life and died 21 years ago.
It
was not just a gathering of a crowd, but rather, a gathering of top Lagos society
women, fabric merchants, politicians and well-meaning Nigerians who came to
show love to one of their own. City People’s duo of DAMILARE SALAMI

bring you some of the gists.
BLUE AND WHITE WAS THE COLOUR OF THE DAY
The
auditorium was well lit with sparkling white and a touch of royal blue. The
colour of the simply gave all the guests a radiant look in their different
outfits. Many of the VIPs also slay in the colour of the day. Let’s quickly
tell you that there was an Ankara Aso-Ebi as well. It was specially made for
some family and friends and it stood them out among the crowd.
YABA LCDA CHAIRMAN STORMS VENUE IN STYLE
When
we told you that some of the top celebrities were at the event, we simply said
the truth. One of the public figures that caught our attention was the chairman
of Yaba LCDA, Hon Kayode Omiyale. He came with some of his followers and added
some glamour to the event. Hon. Omiyale rose steadily through the ranks as a
civil servant and soon got to the pinnacle of his career when he was elevated
to the position of Director of Education, level 17. He retired in 2017. But he
wanted more. He felt there was still a lot he could offer his community. And
when the opportunity came, he made himself available for the position of
Chairman, Yaba LCDA and contested for the election and by July 26th, 2017, he
was sworn in as the Chairman of Yaba LCDA.
THE MUSIC WAS ON POINT
Two
things make a Naija Owambe enjoyable. First is the food and second is the
music. At Yemisi Doherty’s party, both were in excess. However, the music made
more of the talking point. DJ Tiny served it hot. Each of the guests had a
taste of their cherished music as DJ Tiny was switching from oldies to current
trend just to satisfy his guests.

THE ASO-EBI
Sola
Kosoko is a popular On-Air-Personality with LTV and has been blessing the
screen of many Nigerians with her beauty and accent. She was one of the VIPs
that graced the occasion. Sola is a stylish celebrity who rarely attends public
functions but when you see her at one, she always becomes a talking point at
such an event. She nailed this party with her classy outfit and charming smile.
She is currently the Director of News and Current Affairs at the Lagos-Owned TV
station.
HAJIA APEKE FASHIDA AND HER GANG
Alhaja
Fashida Apeke Bangbola is a popular name in the fabric business world. She is
the CEO of Roniks Fabrics and the wife of the Honorable Commissioner, Lagos
State Local Government Commission, Hon. Akeem Adisa Bamgbola. She is a close
friend of Yemisi Doherty. She graced the event with other friends in their
circle and they caught the attention of the camera with their classy dance
steps.

Another
talking point at this event was the cocktails that left the guests wanting
more. The Divine Cocktails always gets it right and this was not an exception.
The CEO, Feyisayo Agbojo was equally present at the event.

Talking
about a classy outfit that left many tongues wagging, it was that of the woman
of the day who was celebrating her late parents, Yemisi Doherty. Hers was a
free-flowing gown with a touch of class. It stood out from the rest.

People Publisher, Dr Seye Kehinde was among the top celebrities that graced the
event. His entry was quite dramatic. He was accompanied to his seat by the
celebrant. Let us quickly inform you that SK was caught dancing on camera. A
rare sight to behold. Dr Seye Kehinde rarely dances but when DJ Tiny performed,
he danced for a few minutes before retiring to his sit again.

OLD SCHOOLMATES ALSO CAME
This
beautiful educationist also had some of her old schoolmates in attendance. The
1987/88 set of Aje Comprehensive High School; Sabo - Yaba and the 1988/89 set
of Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School, Maryland - Ikeja were duly
represented. It became a mini-reunion for some of these old folks who seized
the opportunity to share some sweet memories together. Furthermore, she also
had three of colleagues from the prestigious Adeyemi College of Education,
Ondo, in attendance as well.

Did
we tell you that this pretty woman is also a member of the Inner Wheel Club,
District 911? Yes, she is and some of the members of the club equally came to
stand by one of their own. The Inner Wheel Club, District 911 is one of the
largest women’s service voluntary organizations in the world. It is active in
more than 103 countries and has more than 103,000 members worldwide.

Yemisi
Doherty is a fun-loving, energetic and enthusiastic lady, a lover of God and a proud mother of two wonderful girls. She studied Physical and Health Education
at Adeyemi College of Education. Ondo, and Educational Administration/Planning
at National Open University, Victoria Island Lagos. She is an effective
educational administrator with vast experience in impacting adequate knowledge
in learners and educators to utilize optimum potentials, fashion out creative
ways of sustaining productivity, profitability and long term survival in the
field of their career. She has taught and worked as a school coordinator in some
schools and is presently working as an educational consultant in various
schools in Lagos and Ondo.
