The wake service was a super exciting one, it held inside of the halls designated for this purpose inside the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Compound in Mushin. Give it to the choir members who did a good job to give Pa Olojede a memorable wake service. One of the talking points at the wake was the versatile young lady on the piano. She didn’t look like the skills she displayed on the piano. She is an exceptional pianist.

THE ALL-WHITE AUDITORIUM

Those who entered the auditorium thought that they had met themselves in the kingdom of God. The reason was simple, the wake service auditorium was beautifully designed in white and it was well lit. As a matter of fact, it was a closed-door event because the auditorium was fully air-conditioned. For those who had a stressful day before retiring to the venue in the evening, they found succour in the cool atmosphere and were able to relax and enjoy the programme as it unfolded.

LYING IN STATE WAS WELL-ATTENDED

Baba Olojede was known as a very peaceful man and a lover of God. The community members spoke very highly of him not as a matter of respect for the departed but because he has a way of touching the lives of the people around him and making his impact felt without announcing it. At the lying in state that held at his place of residence in Papa Ajao, Mushin, men and women came out in their numbers to come and have a glimpse of his remains for the last time before it is being committed to mother earth.

BEFITTING END FUNERAL HOME DID WELL

Right from the Christian Wake to the internment, Befitting End Funeral Homes had taken charge of the band as well as handling the remains of the deceased. They did a good job. Their band display, dancing and other activities were top-notch. Did they make any extra cash? Well, they did at the lying in state, church and even at the cemetery where people were supposed to be emotional.

THE CHURCH CHOIR WAS ON POINT

Trust the Anglican Church choir to deliver when it is expected; they never seem to disappoint in terms of musical delivery especially when it comes to hymns and opera. She made a serious fashion statement both at the church and reception. She caught many lenses at the event as the cameramen wouldn’t let her be, they kept approaching her for a photograph. This wasn’t because she was the daughter of the deceased; it was simply because of her fashion styles. Also in this category was Mrs Opeyemi Olojede, the wife of Pa Olojede’s last son, Opeoluwa. Her fashion style was jaw-dropping. She became the cynosure of many eyes. There were more women at the event who transformed the Aso-Ebi into wonders. MIXED EMOTIONS AT THE IKOYI VAULT

The Ikoyi Vault was Pa Olojede’s remains final destination after 87 years of quality life lived in health wealth and fulfilment of purpose. It is a known fact that no matter how old one’s parent or spouse is, it is always very sad and difficult to wave goodbye but death is inevitable for any mortal man. After the church service, the Olojedes and their extended families arrived at the Ikoyi Vault for the internment service. They were accompanied by the Anglican church choir and clergy who ministered at the cemetery. It was a very tense and emotional moment for the widow and children of the deceased. At Some point, Mrs Omotola Morayo Olojede could no longer hold her emotions as she watched the remains of her beloved husband being lowered down into the grave. Also very emotional was Mrs Abiola Olusile-Olojede, the deceased’s only daughter. She had her nuclear family and friends around her and they consoled her well enough even if it appears that no amount of consolation can bring one’s beloved back from the dead.

87 BALLOONS FLOWN INTO THE SKY

To finally wave Pa Olojede goodbye, the priest declared that 87 balloons be flown by his wife, children, family members and loved ones. This was to signify the number of years he spent on earth. They all did that with the hope that they shall reunite at the feet of Christ on the last day. Neemee’s event was in charge of the internment and they did a good job.
