Many people, especially those who are not close to them, though probably the relationship was based on business, as they always see Goldmynetv’s crew at any party where K1 is playing. will also agree that the insinuation became deeper when Otunba Sesan Rufai
broadcasted the death of his father, late Chief Samson Rufai JP, Mefu of Igan
Kingdom in Ago- Iwoye a few months ago, and in that broadcast, the Maiyegun of Yorubaland
was mentioned as part of the family. How come? How are they related? At least
many already know that King Wasiu Ayinde is from Ijebu- Ode. These and many
other questions started flying up and down. In fact, many couldn’t wait till
the day of the final burial, just to know about their actual relationship and
how K1 is to the family. And lo and behold, K1 de Ultimate actually confirmed
their relationship in his speech on that day. But before that, let us quickly
gist you on what happened in Ago-Iwoye at the event, and how Otunba Sesan Rufai
shut down the whole of Ago-Iwoye for his father’s final burial.
On
Friday, 20th May 2022, top society personalities gathered in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun
State for the final burial of late Chief Samson Rufai JP, Mefu of Igan Kingdom,
Ago-Iwoye. It was a gathering of the high and mighty, notable celebrities,
dignitaries from all walks of life, even monarchs, as led by the Ebumawe of
Ago-Iwoye, HRM Oba Abdulrazaq Adenugba with their Queens. They all stormed
Ago-Iwoye City Stadium & Wosam Arena Event Center to give the father of one
of the media gurus his last respect.
The
party was indeed glamorous with K1 De Ultimate on the bandstand. The Maiyegun
of Yorubaland delivered quality music as usual and performed to the delight of
the guests, as they danced and enjoyed every beat from the King himself. Food
and drinks were also in excess.
Celebrities
who graced the occasion included Iyalaje Toyin Kolade, Prophetess Mary Olubori,
Kenny Ogungbe, Idowu Ogungbe, Dayo Adeneye, Kwame, Aare Dele Momodu, Bamidele
Onalaja and many others. Also in attendance was the former Deputy Governor of
Ogun State, Prince Segun Adesegun.
Now
speaking on his relationship with Otunba Sesan Rufai and why he does not joke
with the entire Rufai family, K1 de Ultimate said “ I have so much to say about
late Chief Samson Rufai. but we thank God that he made us children to
appreciate the kind of father he is. I got 2 points from what Kabiyesi said
about Mefu. Mefu will never lie, he will tell you as it is. He was a man that
didn’t take nonsense, a disciplinarian to the core, you have nothing to entice
him. If he does not agree with you, he does not agree. At times, if I send
people to him, he would insist that I must come myself and I must go. I bless
God for making me to pass through that kind of a man. God used him for me a
lot. There is nothing I want to do that I don’t inform him about, if he wants me to
do it he would say yes and if he doesn’t, he would ask me to stop. Mefu was
like a guardian angel to me. May his soul rest in peace. Mefu was a man of
honour until his last day on earth, we all hear what Kabiyesi said about him. I
pray God be with you Sesan and give you long life, everything you lay your
hands on will continue to prosper. I am
an adopted son of Mefu. He told me to my face “I am your father. If anybody
asks you to bring your father, call me.” I was happy on that day, for a man to
lay his hand on my shoulder and say “don’t fear, I’m always with you”. No
matter how big you are, if you don’t have someone to check you, chastise or
correct you, you won’t last. if you tell me you will report me to Mefu till
date, I will be sober and I will calm down, not because of anything but for the
utmost respect I have for him, and that also informs why I don’t joke with the
family”.
