It is a week of celebration for the entire Yoruba race as their respected king, The Ooni of Ife, his royal majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II becomes a year older. As a way of making the event big and memorable, eminent Nigerians are set to attend the Annual Birthday Symposium stated to celebrate the king.
The Annual Birthday Symposium will hold Thursday October 14, 2021 at the popular Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Enuwa, Ile-Ife by 10am. It is an annual lecture series aimed at the key challenges facing the Yoruba race and Nigeria at large.
According to the press release from the media aide to the Ooni, Comrade Moses Olafare, the year 2021 edition of the symposium is centred on the theme "Addressing Security Challenges as They Affect Grassroots Development in Nigeria: Need for Constitutional Empowerment of Traditional Institution". Discussing the theme is the Keynote Speaker of the day, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Okorocha.
To grace this epoch-making event is the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu ((SAN); Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and the immediate past Governor of Imo State, now a Senator, Rochas Okorocha and other top dignitaries.
Also to be in attendance are stakeholders such as the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode; the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye; among others.
Meanwhile, the Royal Guest of Honour would be the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Victor Aladesimbo Kiladejo.
Olafare added that; aside the symposium, there are a number of projects scheduled to celebrate his royal majesty which include:
A Healthcare Support Program sponsored by the Iyalaje Oodua, Princess (Dr.) Toyin Kolade. This holds on Wednesday October 13, 2021at the premises of Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Enuwa, Ile-Ife. The program is aimed at assisting the poor and other vulnerable persons particularly those suffering from health challenges such as High Blood Pressure and Diabetes.
The laudable initiative would sensitize the people on Prevention and Management of High Blood Pressure and Diabetes, Free Blood Sugar Test, Visual Accuracy Test, Free Pick Flow Test, Free Blood Pressure Test. The initiative would as well conduct free Healthcare services for 200 persons suffering from High Blood Pressure and Diabetes among others notable health challenges.
The Ooni's Hopes Alive Initiative (HAI) which is managed by Princess Temitope Adesegun also offers a Free Health Care Support in commemoration with the birthday celebration of one of the Africa’s foremost and well respected king. This would hold on Friday 15th, October 2021 also at the premises of Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Enuwa, Ile-Ife. Meanwhile women and ladies suffering from Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) would receive treatment and sensitized on the cure and prevention from the Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
Climaxing activities of this year's birthday of the Arole Oduduwa is the Get-together; the 'Imperial Birthday Party' holding on Sunday 17th, October 2021 at the Ojaja Arena within the Ife Grand Resort and Industrial Park at Ile-Ife.
He however said “The entire public is hereby invited to partake and equally benefit from the events stated above as we celebrate and equally commemorate the annual birthday anniversary of the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula and the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.”
