Dr Abayomi Ajayi Commences Cohort 2 of Physicians Mentoring Programme



The Dr Abayomi Ajayi Physicians Mentorship Programme has begun its mentorship for the 2nd cohort in a row.


The mentorship programme is geared towards equipping young emerging physicians and aspiring doctors with outstanding leadership and managerial skills for the profession and the nation.


According to one of  Dr Abayomi Ajayi, the convener, the programme which runs extensively for a year, hopes to enhance their personal and professional performances in four key areas including “Leadership using Emotional Intelligence”, “Planning”, “Self-discovery”, and “Decision Making”.


Included in the mentees' list this year is Asabe Maiyaki, Babajide Abegunde, Bilal Shuaibu Yahya, Bilkisu Kankia Lawal, Bukar Ali Shettimah, Faith Otto, Godwin Oyewunmi, Iyeanyichukwu Nwogbo. 


Others are Mary Agunroye, Oluwakorede Awosika, Osadebamwen Osaghae, Oyenike Oyewo, Simbiat Lawal and Trophy Ogwezi. They are all young physicians from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.


The Physicians Mentoring Programme is organised by Dr Abayomi Ajayi for emerging Physicians in partnership with Nordica Foundation. The Programme was developed because of the need to enhance the career growth of young physicians and improve transformative leadership in the medical profession.


The mentoring programme is designed to provide a forum for young medical professionals and aspiring medical leaders to develop an ongoing relationship by meeting regularly and discussing matters relating to career development and advancement within an organised and supportive framework.


The mentors’ list is rich and full. It has Dr Abayomi Ajayi, Fertility Expert, MD/CEO Nordica Fertility Centre, Prof. Bomi Ogedengbe, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Ebun Adejuyigbe, Dean, Faculty of Clinical Science, OAU, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU). Professor Sade Ogunsola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UNILAG, Prof. Oluwarotimi Akinola, Prof. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr Abiodun Eke-Aluko, Founder, Premier Hospitals, Lagos, Adekunle Michael Oyegade, MD, Mopheth Pharmacy, Prof Deji Adekunle (SAN) DG, Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS).


Also on the list is Mrs Funmi Babington Ashaye, MD/CEO Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers Limited, Chief Mrs Nike Akande, Renowned Industrialist and Investment Expert, Engr.
